SAN FRANCISCO – The Pacific men's and women's track and field program transitions from its impressive indoor campaign to the start of the outdoor season, beginning Friday with the Golden Gate Track Fest, hosted by San Francisco State from Cox Stadium.
The Tigers are coming off their first-ever appearance in an indoor conference championship at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Track & Field Championships. Throughout the last three months, Pacific has broken several records and claimed major achievements during the indoor season, led by the culminating performance of junior
Jack Weber from last Monday at the MPSF Championships.
Weber was crowned the individual champion in the men's mile with a time of 4:15.65, outpacing the next runner by over three seconds to secure first place in Reno, Nevada. Although his mile time at the MPSF Championships was a few seconds short of a season best, Weber has already set the Pacific school record in the men's mile earlier this season, establishing a personal best of 4:09.95 at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington.
Fasting forward to the outdoor season, Weber will represent one of five Tigers in the men's 3k steeplechase at the Golden Gate Track Fest. Pacific will also prepare to compete in a variety of running events, ranging from 100-meter dashes to 1,500-meter runs.
Sophomore
Angelina Lione, one of the highlights on the women's side from indoor season, will serve as one of the six Tigers competing in the 1,500-meter event. Lione's previous time in that event stands at 4:32.09.
The Tigers will not compete in any field events on Friday, primarily focused on the sprinting ahead. The Golden Gate Track Fest will last one day with events scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and end around 2:30 p.m. with the 4x400-meter relays. Live results from throughout the competition can be found
