RENO, Nev. – The Pacific baseball program carries along with its extended road trip against Mountain West opponents, preparing for a three-game series against Nevada that starts on Friday at 6:05 p.m. from Don Weir Field at Peccole Park.
The Tigers (6-6) showcased a strong offensive outburst in their last contest, defeating San Jose State by an 11-5 margin on Tuesday. Amidst its nine-game road swing, Pacific now turns its attention to the Wolf Pack (5-5) for the upcoming series away from Klein Family Field.
Redshirt sophomore
Robert Orr continues to light a fire under the Tigers' hots bats of late, boasting a team-best .364 batting average with three home runs, eight runs and eight RBIs. In addition to his stellar defense at shortstop, Orr possesses a five-game hitting streak where he has recorded at least one extra-base hit in each of those contests. Three of the last five games have been multi-hit performances for Orr.
Also tied with Orr for the team lead in run manufacturing is senior
Jake Tandy and redshirt sophomore
JT Shank with eight RBIs. While Tandy owns a .302 batting average during his season-long 12-game on-base streak, Shank has the most multi-RBI games by the Tigers this year with three.
The Pacific starting rotation has been sharp through the first month of the 2026 campaign, spearheaded by a pair of arms in redshirt junior
Garret Plata and redshirt junior
Zach Todd. Plata and Todd each hold sub-two earned run averages with a combined 44 strikeouts in 28.1 innings of work, serving as the go-to pitching options for head coach
Reed Peters. Plata and Todd represent as the No. 1 and No. 2 pitchers in strikeouts in the West Coast Conference with 24 and 20 strikeouts, respectively.
Redshirt junior
Carson Revay has been an effective tool out of the bullpen, owning a 2.63 earned run average with 17 strikeouts and a pair of saves in 13.2 innings. Revay's two saves are tied for second in the WCC while his ERA stands among the top ten among qualified conference pitchers.
Defending Mountain West regular-season champion Nevada dominated the conference's preseason awards and was tabbed the favorite to repeat in 2026. The Wolf Pack began the year getting swept on the road at Ole Miss but returned the favor to Utah Valley in their home-opening series. Nevada has won its last two contests, claiming victory in the series finale at UC Davis by a 11-5 score and on Monday at Stanford, 9-6.
Rominic Quiban will be a key opponent to keep an eye on for the Pacific pitching as he leads the Wolf Pack with a .436 batting average with a team-high 17 hits and eight runs. Nevada has a pair of players with two home runs in Junhyuk Kwon and Sean Yamaguchi.
Alessandro Castro has been the most effective starting pitcher for the Wolf Pack, posting a 4.35 earned run average with nine strikeouts in two starts and 10.1 innings. As a staff, Nevada has a 6.41 earned run average, pointing to another potential high-scoring three game series.
Pacific and Nevada have seen each other a lot on the diamond over the series history that dates back to 1967. The two teams did not meet last season but did so in 2024 where the Wolf Pack took both midweek contests. The Tigers seek their first road victory over the Wolf Pack since March 27, 2023, when senior
Rylan Evans and redshirt junior
Andrew Sloan each played a role in scoring a run in the 6-5 win. This weekend's series marks the first three-game set between the two programs since 2015. Pacific last won a road series over Nevada in 2006, taking two of three in that stretch.
All three games will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network with a 6:05 p.m. first pitch scheduled for Friday, 2:05 p.m. first pitch for Saturday and 12:05 p.m. first pitch for the Sunday series finale.
