STOCKTON, Calif. – On Tuesday afternoon, Pacific softball encountered a cold day at the plate resulting in a 5-1 loss to Nevada at Bill Simoni Field.
The Tigers (9-20) were held to three hits on the afternoon, two of which came in the first inning – the second of which came off the bat of senior
Allie Capello to tally Pacific's lone run of the game. The RBI is Capello's 15th of the season, ranking her second on the club in that statistic.
Senior
Jordan Hayes notched her fourth double of the season in the seventh inning, but was unable to come around to score.
While the Tigers were unable to string many hits together, the team did flash a discerning eye at the plate by drawing four walks – tying for their season high. Redshirt senior
Olivia Silvestre was hit by her 11th pitch of the season, moving her into a tie for fifth place in program history for the most in a single season.
In the circle, junior starting pitcher
Justice Alcaraz lasted two innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk but was tagged with the loss. She falls to 4-5 this season. In relief, junior
Ariel Nava worked four outs giving up an unearned run on three hits and a walk. Freshman
Carley Mulcahey settled in to pitch the majority of the game for Pacific going 3.2 innings and gave up two runs on three hits and a walk. Both Nava and Mulcahey struck out one batter each.
Pacific's next two series are on the road, first facing Montana for a three-game series this Saturday and Sunday. The club then opens up WCC play on the road at Saint Mary's next Friday-Sunday.
