Jones Sets Long Jump School Record at Wolf Pack Classic & Combined Event

RENO, Nev. – The Pacific men's and women's track and field program completed its one-day trip on Friday to the Wolf Pack Classic & Combined Event, hosted by Nevada at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Sophomore Jonathan Jones was a standout performer for the Tigers, collecting a personal best and a school record in the long jump after launching a distance of 6.49 meters for 20th place. Jones' previous mark was 6.19 meters in his season debut at the Nevada Invitational.

The men's and women's distance teams saw action in the 200-meter, 400-meter, 800-meter and the mile runs on Friday. Leading the women in the mile was freshman Daphne Iosua, who earned 11th place with a time of 5:16.07. Iosua's mile time marks the third fastest one by a Tiger this indoor season.

Junior Valeria Espinoza and senior Emily Wernli both finished in the top 25 of the mile, earning times of 5:30.12 and 5:39.35, respectively.

On the men's side of the mile event, fifth year Andre Souza ran the fastest mile for Pacific, clocking in at 4:19.86 for a new season best. Souza finished the race in eighth place out of 41 participants.

The Tigers will suit up again next week for the Battle Born Classic and Husky Classic, each taking place from Friday, Feb. 13 to Saturday, Feb. 14.
