Box Score 1 STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's tennis team blanked both Dominican and Jessup 7-0 at home on Friday, notching the first two shutouts of the season.
GAME 1
The Tigers (2-8) were dominant from the opening serve, only allowing two Dominican (5-2) student-athletes to take more than two games in any given set throughout both the singles and doubles portions. Juniors
Leyanne Hirota and
Nahreen Cheam breezed past their foes on doubles court two, 6-0, while fellow juniors
Indiya McLeod and
Rayna Sugai did not struggle on court one to dispatch their opponents.
The foursome, plus sophomore
Shukan Parikh, had no issues in the singles half of the match – going for straight set wins on all five courts. Freshman
Eden Kanon won on court six by default as Dominican only had five active student-athletes.
GAME 2
The second half of the doubleheader followed much the same script, with only one Jessup (0-5) court in the singles half managing to take more than two games from Pacific in a set. This time on the doubles court, McLeod paired up with Hirota to score a win on court one and Parikh teamed up with freshman
Kaylie Cao to pull out the win on court two.
Similar to game one, Jessup was only able to fill five courts on singles, so Cheam won by default on court six. However, on the other five courts it was smooth sailing for the four who participated in doubles, and Kanon handled business in straight sets on court five to round out the win.
UP NEXT
The Tigers return to division one competition to take on CSUN. First serve for the doubles portion of the match on Sunday is scheduled for noon and can be seen on Track Tennis.
