Baseball Launches into Season-Opening Series Against Utah Valley

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program swings into the 2026 season with a four-game series against Utah Valley, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. from Klein Family Field.

Entering the second season under the leadership of head coach Reed Peters, the Tigers lift the lid on their new campaign with an eight-game homestand, starting with the Wolverines from Friday to Monday.

Pacific, who was picked to finish eighth in the 2026 West Coast Conference preseason poll, have won nine consecutive home openers dating back to the 2017 season. Last year, the Tigers delivered a walk-off home run to secure a 2-1 opening day victory over UC San Diego. Pacific would go on to win that series over the Tritons.

Since Klein Family Field debuted in 2006, the Tigers own a record of 13-7 in home openers. Pacific has opened at home for the last three seasons in a row.

Senior Jake Tandy headlines the group of returning hitters after slashing .304 with 26 runs, 26 RBI, five home runs in 52 games during the 2025 campaign. Junior Braeden Schnabel serves as a key power bat in the lineup after hitting a team-high six home runs in his first year as a Tiger.

Pacific also will look for a spark offensively from a pair of fresh faces in the forms of graduate student Brendan O'Sullivan and senior Grant MacArthur. While O'Sullivan hit .263 with a career-high 45 hits and 25 RBI as a senior at UNLV last year, MacArthur launched ten home runs with 45 RBI in his junior year at UConn.

On the mound, junior Regan Carter provided stability as a starter during WCC play, posting a 2.49 ERA with 25 strikeouts in six starts and nine appearances. Graduate student Adan Perez returns as the 2025 strikeout leader for Pacific with 56 strikeouts to his name in over 68 innings of work.

The Wolverines finished last year with 33 wins, captured their second Western Athletic Conference Tournament title, and advanced to the Eugene Regional where they earned a 6-5 win over No. 12 Oregon. Utah Valley was one of the top offensive teams in the WAC last season, ranking No. 10 nationally in hits (661) and No. 15 in runs scored (523).

The Wolverines was picked to finish second in the WAC preseason coaches' poll and received one first-place vote. It marks the second time in three years that UVU has been selected second, tying the program's highest preseason placement in WAC history after also being picked second in 2024.

Pacific and Utah Valley will clash in a series for the first time since 2018. The Tigers own the edge in the series history with a 6-4 all-time record. All games in the head-to-head match-up have been played at Klein Family Field. The last time the two teams went toe-to-toe was during the 2024 season where the Tiger utilized a three-run ninth-inning rally to secure a 6-5 win. Redshirt sophomore JT Shank ended up knocking in the game-winning run after legging out a grounder to clinch the comeback victory.

All four games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Friday's game scheduled for 6 p.m., Saturday's game for 3 p.m., Sunday's game for 1 p.m., and Monday's series finale for 1 p.m.
