MORAGA, Calif. – With only three weeks remaining until the West Coast Conference Tournament, the Pacific women's basketball has two opportunities to gain ground in the standings with a road match against Saint Mary's on Thursday at 6:30 and a Saturday home bout with Oregon State at 2 p.m.
The Tigers (9-14, 4-8 WCC) and Gaels (14-11, 5-7 WCC) enter the week only a game apart in the standings and the team will be looking to avenge a loss earlier in the season in which Pacific was unable to hang on to a fourth quarter lead. However, in that game sophomore
Winner Bartholomew went for a game-high 19 points, true freshman
Sophia Mindermann scored 11 off the bench and sophomore
Daria Nestorov's six steals were the most single game steals since
Liz Smith's seven versus San Francisco in 2025.
As the regular season winds down, senior
Sydney Ward is closing in on a couple of impressive milestones. With six games remaining in the regular season, she is nine blocks away from becoming the program's fifth ever student-athlete to reach 100 career blocks and 14 rebounds away from her career 500th.
On the season, she and junior
Marina Radocaj both sit at 27 blocks – meaning that if each can tally three more blocks, they would be the fourth and fifth Tigers ever to block 30 shots in a season multiple times. They would also be the first pair of teammates to block 30+ shots in multiple seasons in team history.
Glancing at the all-time series, Saint Mary's holds a slight 25-23 advantage and a 13-9 edge playing in Moraga.
Saturday's Pink Game matchup against Oregon State is another opportunity for the Tigers to avenge a loss earlier in the season. Bartholomew and Mindermann were again big factors in the previous meeting in Corvallis, scoring 14 and 15 points respectively – the latter of whom his four three-pointers.
Last season the Tigers prevailed twice inside Alex G. Spanos Center over Oregon State, twice erasing fourth quarter deficits to eventually win in overtime. In the series history, Pacific and OSU are tied 2-2 in Stockton but OSU holds a 7-2 advantage.
Two Pacific wins this week could vault the Tigers as high as eighth in the standings, provided 0-2 weeks from both Saint Mary's and Pepperdine.
Thursday's action at the UCU Pavilion and Saturday's game at Spanos will both be streamed on ESPN+.
