Tigers Prep for Road Meet at UC Santa Barbara Monday

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Pacific swim and dive program continues its road adventures through January, heading south for the second week in a row to face UC Santa Barbara on Monday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. from the Rec Center Pool.

The Tigers enter the competition following a win by the women's squad at Cal State Bakersfield, claiming a 165-113 victory for their fourth win of the season. The women carry a 4-1 record to Santa Barbara, California while the men stand at 1-2 ahead of Monday's meet.

Pacific and UCSB met earlier this season as part of the PAC Invite at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center from Oct. 3-4. The Gauchos took home first place on both sides with 1,436 points for the women and 918.5 for the men. Pacific collected 894 on the women's side for the second spot of the four participating programs while the men earned 757.5 points for third place.

The Tigers' women's squad has been led by a group effort of veteran swimmers, including notably senior Diana Chan, who was a part of four first-place finishes at Cal State Bakersfield.

Senior Katie Honey looks to continue her strong season, primarily swimming the breaststroke. Honey earned a first-place nod in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 26.42 seconds at the 2025 Trailblazer Invitational.

On the men's side, sophomore Nate Ramussen has been a standout for Pacific in the freestyle events. The two-time MPSF Men's Athlete of the Week has a pair of first place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle earlier this season in performances over Fresno Pacific, UC Santa Cruz and San Jose State.

Freshman Raphael Vanhecke has gradually improved during his first-year campaign. The native of Ophain-Bois-Seigneur-Isaac, Belgium sits second among the Pacific men with 741.30 points, according to SwimCloud.

In the series history between the two programs, the Tigers own a 1-2 record on the women's side and an 0-3 record on the men's side since 2020. Monday's meet marks the first time that Pacific will represent as a visitor of the Gauchos in the last six years.
