9/30/2025 4:00:00 PM

STOCKTON, Calif. – Sophomore Nate Rasmussen of the Pacific men's swim and dive program was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.

This the first weekly award for Rasmussen, who earned three first-place finishes in the Tigers' dominant victory over Fresno Pacific in last Saturday's meet at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.

"Nate set the tone of our season with an incredible performance in his first dual meet," Pacific head coach Katelyne Herrington said. "Winning all of his individual events and posting a 1:39.17 in the 200 freestyle, his fastest in-season unsuited time and a CSCAA B cut, shows the hard work he's put in. We're excited to see him continue building on this momentum."

Rasmussen, a native of Stockton, California, collected 27 of Pacific's 188 points in the win over the Sunbirds, notching a first-place nod in the 50 free (21.26), 100 free (46.82) and 200 free (1:39.17).

The last Tiger to earn the honor came last season on Jan. 22, 2025, by Mitchell Hopper. Pacific had four men's swimmers earn MPSF athlete of the week accolades during its 2024-25 campaign.

Rasmussen and the Tigers are now ready to host the PAC Invite this weekend, beginning with 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. sessions on Friday, Oct. 3 and concluding on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center. There is free admission to attend both days.
