SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 10 Pacific men's water polo program was in the lead for most of the way, but No. 17 UC Santa Barbara responded late to grab a 14-13 result Sunday at Dos Pueblos High School.
Â
The Tigers (6-4) were up 12-10 at the 4:25 mark of the fourth quarter when the Gauchos (12-9) went on a critical 4-0 run to leap ahead with under a minute remaining. Pacific answered with a goal from freshman
Apostolos Georgaras with 30 seconds left, but UCSB was able to run out the clock on the final possession.
Â
Neither team led by more than two goals the entire way.
Â
Freshman
Borisz Kasa-Gal paced the offense with four goals and an assist. It was the fourth time this season he scored four or more goals in a game. Fellow freshmen
Tamas Otto Voros and Georgaras recorded two goals apiece.
Â
Fifth-year senior
Daniel Viscia netted his first hat trick of the season and seventh of his career. It came after he'd scored four goals previously on the year.
Â
Freshman
Petar Popovic was a big contributor with five assists. Freshman goalkeeper
Kiss Gergely made nine saves.
