Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

No. 17 UCSB Sneaks Past No. 10 Pacific Late

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 10 Pacific men's water polo program was in the lead for most of the way, but No. 17 UC Santa Barbara responded late to grab a 14-13 result Sunday at Dos Pueblos High School.

The Tigers (6-4) were up 12-10 at the 4:25 mark of the fourth quarter when the Gauchos (12-9) went on a critical 4-0 run to leap ahead with under a minute remaining. Pacific answered with a goal from freshman Apostolos Georgaras with 30 seconds left, but UCSB was able to run out the clock on the final possession.

Neither team led by more than two goals the entire way.

Freshman Borisz Kasa-Gal paced the offense with four goals and an assist. It was the fourth time this season he scored four or more goals in a game. Fellow freshmen Tamas Otto Voros and Georgaras recorded two goals apiece.

Fifth-year senior Daniel Viscia netted his first hat trick of the season and seventh of his career. It came after he'd scored four goals previously on the year.

Freshman Petar Popovic was a big contributor with five assists. Freshman goalkeeper Kiss Gergely made nine saves.

Pacific will begin West Coast Conference play Thursday at home when it hosts Air Force at 7 p.m. at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center. The Tigers lead the all-time series 22-3 won 22-12 last season on the road. Pacific has won the last six meetings.
