Top-10 Showdown Features No. 9 Pacific, No. 3 Cal in Home Opener

STOCKTON, Calif. – Making its first appearance at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center this season, the No. 9 Pacific men's water polo program will take on No. 3 Cal at 7 p.m. Friday.

The first 100 fans in attendance will receive a free Water Polo U cup.

The Tigers (6-1) are coming off an unbeaten 4-0 weekend at the Inland Empire Classic. Freshman Apostolos Georgaras notched 16 goals in four games and went on to win West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Week honors.

Georgaras leads the team with 29 goals on the year. Fellow freshman Borisz Kasa-Gal, who won WCC Newcomer of the Week last week, is second on the team with 23 goals.

Cal (4-0) is undefeated this year with victories over Redlands, Air Force, Salem and Mount St. Mary's. The Tigers will be the stiffest test to date for the Golden Bears, who are coming off a rebuilding year after winning three consecutive National Championships from 2021-23.

The last time Pacific knocked off a top-three opponent was Sept. 16, 2022 when it defeated No. 3 USC at home 15-13.

It's the first of five regular season home games for the Tigers. They'll also host a marquee exhibition match against Team China – Shanghai on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. which offers free general admission.
