No. 9 Pacific Falls to No. 3 Fordham, Beats No. 17 Brown in Exhibition

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A tightly contested game against No. 3 Fordham just didn't end in favor of the No. 9 Pacific men's water polo program in an 18-14 final, but the Tigers concluded the weekend with a 23-15 exhibition win over No. 17 Brown on Sunday at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.

The Tigers (2-1) fell behind 13-6 against the Rams (4-0) midway through the third quarter when a goal by sophomore Ori Buzaglo mounted a comeback attempt. Pacific scored four straight to cut it to 13-10 late in the third, and remained down 14-11 early in the fourth.

Though, Fordham was able to use a run midway through the final quarter to hold-off the Tigers.

The freshman duo of Borisz Kasa-Gal and Apostolos Georgaras paced the Tigers for the second straight day with five goals apiece. Buzaglo registered a hat trick, while freshman Petar Popovic netted a pair.

Pacific moved to 2-2 all-time against Fordham.

On the weekend, Kasa-Gal registered 17 goals and Georgaras 13, not counting the exhibition. Goalkeepers Kiss Gergely, a freshman, and junior Benjamin Gronbach split time in every contest.

Against Brown (3-0), the Tigers spread it around as 13 different student-athletes scored a goal. It included hat tricks from sophomore Yoav Rendler, Georgaras, Popovic and Kasa-Gal. Junior Noah Wendt and freshman Brody Biedermann tallied two goals apiece.

Pacific will be back in action next weekend when it competes in the Inland Empire Classic over four matches. The first is against Cal Lutheran at 12:20 p.m. Friday in Redlands, California. The home opener is Friday, Sept. 12 in a 7 p.m. game against Cal at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
