STOCKTON, Calif. – Behind seven strong innings from sophomore
Regan Carter and a go-ahead home run by senior
DJ Scott, the Pacific baseball program put together a spirited effort on Fireworks Night for a series-opening 7-3 victory Friday at Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (19-31, 7-12 WCC) are back in the win column in West Coast Conference action, limiting the Waves (11-38, 6-13 WCC) to just four hits, thanks to a career-long outing from Carter on the mound.
Carter, the native of Fulshear, Texas, was lights out from the beginning, allowing no earned runs through seven innings for his longest appearance as a Tiger. With four strikeouts in the process, Carter picked up his second victory of the season and the first career one at home. Senior
Jarryd Wood recorded his first save of the 2025 campaign, pitching 2.0 scoreless innings in relief.
On the offensive front, all but one Tiger recorded a hit, including the third home run of the season by Scott to give the home team a 4-3 lead after the fifth inning. Pacific never looked back after that moment thanks to Scott's big fly to left. Redshirt senior
JT Waldon played a pivotal role for the Tigers' offense, going 3-for-3 and was a home run shy of the cycle.
Junior
Rylan Evans and freshman
Diego Davis collected multi-hit performances from the No. 8 and No. 9 holes, respectively, setting the table for Pacific's counter punch from the Waves' early attack.
Pepperdine jumped out in front first, scoring on a two-out error at third base for a 1-0 edge after one inning. Pacific capitalized in the bottom of the third inning, scoring twice to take the lead, 2-1.
The Waves caught a break after a throwing error that led to two runs, resulting in a 3-2 lead for the visitors. The Tigers were quick to tie up the game as sophomore
Braeden Schnabel brought home Waldon on an RBI single after a lead-off double.
Following Scott's send-off to left field in the fifth inning, the Tigers cruised to victory, adding insurance runs in the sixth and eighth innings to claim the series opener by a 7-3 margin.
The Tigers and Waves will battle it out in game two of the three-game series tomorrow on Faith Night with a first pitch slated for 6 p.m. PDT from Klein Family Field.
