STOCKTON, Calif. – For the first time since the 2012-13 season, the Pacific men's golf program has punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament, opening in the Urbana Regional, hosted by Illinois at Atkins Golf Course from May 12-14.

The NCAA announced the regionals and the field on Wednesday morning. Six 54-hole regional tournaments determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individual qualifiers for the national championship. The championship itself will be held from May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

The Tigers make their 16th appearance as a team, going back to the program's first appearance during the 1979-80 season. This year's berth marks the first team appearance under tenth-year head coach John Cook.

"I'm really excited for the guys," Cook said. "They've been working so hard all year. Their dedication to their craft and skills is remarkable. They want it. It's a testament to them more than anything. A total team effort."

Pacific has been headlined by sophomore Carlos Astiazaran's play all year. The native of Tucson, Arizona recorded a scoring average of 69.3 across 36 rounds, marking the lowest scoring average in Pacific history.

Astiazaran, who ranks No. 70 according to SCOREBOARD, was named West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Year alongside Pepperdine's Mahanth Chirravuri while Cook was recognized as the WCC Coach of the Year, marking the first duo to garner these awards since Pacific joined the conference in 2013. Astiazaran was crowned individual champion twice in his 2024-25 campaign, claiming first place at the Leadership and Golf Collegiate Championship and at the Nick Watney Invitational.

During the WCC Championships, Astiazaran played a pivotal role in guiding the Tigers to a fourth-place finish at the tournament after sinking a pair of birdies on the final two holes and helping Pacific finish in fourth place.

Cook guided the Tigers through a historic regular season where the Tigers were crowned champions of 2024 The Goat at Navy and the Leadership & Golf Collegiate Championship in Seaside, California hosted by Saint Mary's. Pacific also battled to six top three finishes and the top four finish at the WCC Championship.

If the Tigers are among the top five teams out of their regional, they will advance to the NCAA Championship at La Costa.
