STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's and women's swimming program reaped the rewards of a strong 2024-25 campaign, earning a wide variety of Mountain Sports Pacific Federation All-Conference awards Wednesday afternoon, as announced by the conference.
Highlighting the group of Pacific swimmers this season, senior
Mitchell Hopper was named MPSF Men's Swimmer of the Year after scoring 27 individual points toward the Tigers first-ever MPSF Championship, tied for the most in the conference meet.
Pacific head coach
Katelyne Herrington led the Tigers to their first-ever MPSF Team Championship in 2025, giving her MPSF Men's Swimming Head Coach of the Year. Pacific won a conference-high 11 MPSF Men's Swimming titles and placed in the top three in all but one of the swim events. Herrington represents Pacific's first-ever MPSF Swim Coach of the Year recognition.
"This was by far the best year and the best team that I've had in the six years I've been head coach at Pacific," Herrington said. "We have had the strongest culture and that showed on our overall team performances because everyone bought in on one common goal."
Hopper, a native of Happy Valley, Oregon, recorded first-place MPSF season-best swims in the 200 IM, 100 free, and 200 free, Hopper swam for three winning relays---200 medley, 800 free, and 400 medley—giving him six first team All-MPSF honors. His 200 IM swim of 1:46.49 was a personal-best and a new Pacific record, while his 100 free was also a personal-best of 43.39, the second-fastest time in Pacific history. Backed by the three winning MPSF relays, he aided the Tigers automatically qualify for the National Invitational Championship, where he helped the team move up three places from last year to ninth. Hopper was named MPSF Athlete of the Week twice this season. Hopper represents Pacific's first-ever MPSF Swimmer of the Year.
Freshman
Javier Lopez Guillen earned MPSF Men's Freshman of the Year, scoring 24 points toward the Tigers' first-ever MPSF Championship, the most for any first-year male competitor. Lopez Guillen, a native of Inca, Spain, helped the Tigers win each relay he swam at MPSF's--the 200 medley, 800 free, and 400 medley–which all qualified for the National Invitational Championship. He recorded a podium finish in all three of his individual MPSF Championship events, taking the title in the 100 and 200 fly, and placing third in the 500 free to earn six first team all-conference awards. He helped the Tigers place ninth at NIC's, scoring in the top ten in all three of his individual events. At the mid-season event, Lopez Guillen swam his personal-best time in the 200 Fly of 1:43.62, a new Pacific record by nearly two seconds. He also holds the second-fastest time in Pacific history in the 100 fly with a 46.85. He was named MPSF Athlete of the week on Oct. 1 for posting four victories in his collegiate debut. Lopez Guillen is the second all-time MPSF Freshman of the Year recipient from Pacific (Yahav Shahaff-2016).
Freshman
Christina Agiomamitou joins Lopez Guillen as the MPSF Women's Freshman Swimmer of the Year. The native of Nicosia, Cyprus tallied 53 individual points at the MPSF Championships, fourth-most in the entire meet and more than any other first-year competitor. She helped the Tigers win conference titles in the 800 free and 400 free relays – both of which qualified for the National Invitational Championship. Agiomamitou recorded a podium finish in all three of her individual MPSF Championship events, taking the title in the 200 free with a personal-best 1:51.19, placing second in the 1650 free with a personal-best 17:16.51, and taking third in the 500 free with a third personal-best of 5:00.34 for a total of five first team All-MPSF awards. She was named MPSF Athlete of the Week on Oct. 1 for winning four events in her collegiate debut. Agiomamitou represents Pacific's first-ever MPSF Women's Swimming & Diving annual award recipient.
"These three had a vital impact towards our success this season," Herrington said. "What impressed me the most about each of them was their consistency of competitiveness at practice. Their work ethic, passion and commitment to this team all make them very deserving of these awards."
In total, the Tigers earned 58 conference awards on the men's side while garnering 31 conference awards on the women's side.
Pacific looks ahead to the 2025-26 season after a strong campaign this season where both teams finished with winning records.
