STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program opens up a four-game homestand, beginning with a midweek contest against Cal State Bakersfield Tuesday at 5:05 p.m. PDT from Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (14-23, 2-7 WCC) are coming off a season-long seven-game road trip in which the team went 3-4 with a series win over LMU. Pacific now looks ahead to some home cooking, hosting the Roadrunners (14-23) for the second time this season, followed by San Francisco (14-22, 4-8 WCC) in a three-game series, beginning Thursday through Saturday.
The Tigers' offense has awakened in key moments as of late, brewing up with two key ninth-inning rallies in the comeback road victories over the Lions and the Lancers over the last two weeks.
Pacific has utilized its top offensive weapons in junior
Jake Tandy and redshirt senior
JT Waldon to fuel the rallies along with some clutch two-out hitting from the rest of the regular starters. Tandy and Waldon continue to tear up opposing pitching, slashing over .340 each with 10+ extra-base hits and 15+ RBI. Both rank among the top ten in the West Coast Conference in batting average.
Graduate student
Brian McClellin hit a pair of home runs over the course of the previous week, including a lead-off home run in the second game of the series against Cal Baptist. McClellin is hitting 6-for-17 in his last four games with four runs and four RBI.
The Tigers' pitching has found its groove in key moments, particularly in high-pressure situations. Pacific owns a 6.88 earned run average as a team through 37 games.
Cal State Bakersfield enters the final regular season contest against Pacific with a 2-1 edge in the season series. The Roadrunners took the first head-to-head by a 6-0 margin in Stockton before the two teams split two games at Hardt Field approximately a month ago. CSUB recently lost a series at Long Beach State but is 4-2 in its last six contests.
Returning to WCC action this weekend, Pacific welcomes San Francisco, who rides a six-game conference losing streak into Thursday's tilt. The Dons dropped eight straight games, including series at Gonzaga and at home against LMU.
Pacific and CSUB are 4-4 in their last eight games. The Tigers own a 5-3 record since 2009 at home against the Roadrunners.
It's the fifth straight year the Tigers and Dons clash as the two teams meet in Stockton for the first time since 2023. Pacific has won the last two series openers, but San Francisco has taken both series. The Tigers own a 6-7 home record against the Dons since rejoining the WCC in 2013.
All games this week will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Dennis Ackerman on the call. First pitch on Tuesday is slated for 5:05 p.m. PDT. Thursday's and Friday's contests start at 6 p.m. PDT. Saturday's series finale will begin at 1 p.m. PDT.
