STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program continues its non-conference slate, starting a home-and-home series against Sacramento State Friday at 2 p.m. at John Smith Field. The Tigers and Hornets will play Saturday's game at Klein Family Field at 6 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. first pitch in the series finale at Sacramento State.
The Tigers (7-6) are coming off a setback against Cal State Bakersfield, but look to square up with the Hornets (7-5) in a crosstown clash.
Pitching has been prominent for Pacific with a 4.90 earned run average to its name, highlighted by senior
Adan Perez's start to the year. The Tigers have been within several contests, collecting five saves, which is more than the previous season.
Offensively, the quartet of fifth year
John-Howard Bobo, senior
DJ Scott, junior
Jake Tandy and redshirt senior
JT Waldon have been key contributors within the heart of Pacific's lineup, hitting over .300 in at least a dozen games played each.
Sacramento State, who was projected to finish fifth in the WAC, has played ten of its 12 games on the 2025 season at home, hosting San Francisco, Ball State and South Dakota State. The Hornets are 6-4 within their friendly confines.
Hornets' infielder JP Smith and reliever Kade Brown were two of 12 players named to the preseason All-Western Athletic Conference team. Both Smith and Brown are preseason picks for the first time in their careers as a Sacramento State player has been named to the league's preseason team for the third straight year and the 14th time in 20 seasons since rejoining the WAC in 2006.
Sacramento State leads the all-time series with Pacific, 99-81-1, according to records that date back to 1950, and leads the series between the two as Division I rivals by a 48-39 count. Last year, the Tigers split their contests with the Hornets, each winning respectively at home.
All games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
