STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program opens its April slate with a Tuesday home contest against San Jose State at Klein Family Field at 6 p.m. PDT.
The Tigers (10-19, 0-6 WCC) look to avenge an 8-4 loss to the Spartans (17-11, 5-4 MW) last week at Excite Ballpark. It's the first meeting between the two teams in Stockton since the 2018 season.
Both clubs enter the midweek clash coming off conference series losses as Pacific fell to Gonzaga while San Jose State dropped two of three to Fresno State.
Senior
Jarryd Wood and senior
Drake Bicknell each hit their first home runs of the season over the weekend, providing some life to the Tigers' offense of late.
Junior
Jake Tandy continues to put in the work when called upon this year. Tandy, who was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week before conference play started, holds a team-high .349 batting average with five doubles, three home runs and a team-best 17 runs.
Redshirt senior
JT Waldon leads the Tigers with 22 RBI to accompany his .340 batting average that ranks second on the squad. Waldon has been a key cog in Pacific's heart of the order.
Sophomore
Adrian Vidal has demonstrated his patience at the plate. The native of Miami, Florida has an on-base percentage of .524 through 14 appearances.
The Tigers have a plethora of arms that have been on display ahead of game No. 30 of the regular season. The staff holds a 6.50 earned run average, which stands near the middle of the pack for WCC rankings.
San Jose State is 2-4 in early midweek matchups this season, including a loss at No. 20 Stanford on March 24. Against Fresno State, the Spartans were run-ruled in eight innings on Friday before taking the Saturday game by a 2-1 margin. SJSU then fell on Sunday to the Bulldogs in a closely contested 4-2 decision.
The two teams will compete for the 162nd all-time meeting with the visitors holding the slight edge, 75-86. Pacific is 45-39 at home against SJSU. Most recently, the Tigers won 10-5 during the 2018 campaign.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Dennis Ackerman on the call.
