Pacific Treks to Gonzaga for Conference Road-Opening Series

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pacific baseball program heads out of California for the final time during the regular season, facing Gonzaga in a three-game set at Patterson Baseball Complex. Friday and Saturday's games are scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch while the Sunday's matinee is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.

The Tigers (10-16, 0-3 WCC) enter the series coming off a narrow defeat to the hands of San Jose State last Tuesday and look to rebound against the Bulldogs (9-13, 2-1 WCC) in the conference road opener.

Pacific is led offensively by junior Jake Tandy with his team-leading .368 batting average. The native of West Sacramento, California has been a staple in the Tigers' lineup through his 23 games played.

Redshirt senior JT Waldon also been productive at the plate with a .400 batting average in conference action last weekend against Portland. Senior Drake Bicknell also carries a hot bat into Friday's tilt with a .444 batting average in WCC play, which features a six-game hitting streak.

Pacific's pitching has been a focal point up until this part of the season, carrying a 6.11 earned run average through 26 games. The Tigers look to utilize veteran arms this weekend in senior Adan Perez and senior Jakob Guardado, who have had success within non-conference action.

Gonzaga opened its WCC slate with a series win over Pepperdine on the road. The Bulldogs also defeated Washington State on Tuesday in Pullman, Washington by a 4-1 margin. This weekend marks the start of a seven-game homestand for Gonzaga.

Hudson Shupe has been a catalyst in the Bulldogs' lineup, hitting a team-best .382 through 22 games.

In the pitching front, Gonzaga has been paced by Finbar O'Brien with his 4.44 ERA. As a team, they have seven saves.

Pacific and Gonzaga meet for the fifth straight season after not competing against one another during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tigers last defeated the Bulldogs on May 4, 2024, behind an 8-2 victory at home. Pacific seeks its first road win at Gonzaga since 2019.

All three contests will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
