SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program looks to right the ship in its final midweek match of March, heading to San Jose State Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. at Excite Ballpark.
The Tigers (10-15, 0-3 WCC) are coming off their West Coast Conference opening weekend against Portland at home and are set for their midweek tilt against the Spartans (15-8, 4-2 MW).
Senior
Drake Bicknell and redshirt senior
JT Waldon were hot in the WCC-opening weekend at Klein Family Field, both hitting .400 or better against the Pilots. Waldon paces Pacific with 22 RBI in 24 games played while Bicknell holds a five-game hitting streak.
It's a four-way tie for the home run leaderboard for Pacific as redshirt sophomore
Andrew Sloan hit a home run last weekend. That put Sloan in a tie with three round trippers alongside Waldon, junior
Jake Tandy and graduate student
Kordell Brown.
Pacific's earned run average is exactly 6.00, which ranks the team in the middle of the conference.
San Jose State rides a five-game winning streak into Monday's matchup with No. 14 Stanford after sweeping Air Force over its weekend in the Bay Area. The Spartans are 12-3 at home and have not fell in front of their fans since March 11 when Cal Poly defeated them, 18-4.
SJSU's Alex Fernandes is a key player to look out for as he leads his club with a .411 batting average along with a team-high 24 runs and seven stolen bases in seven attempts.
The Spartans' pitching staff has been effective through 23 games with a 4.36 ERA, which is at the top of the Mountain West leaderboard.
Meeting for the first time since 2019, the Tigers won that contest, 8-1, in San Jose and ride a three-game winning streak into the series with the Spartans. Pacific is 7-7 in its last 14 games at San Jose State.
The game will be televised locally on NBC Sports California and also be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network, which can be found
here. First pitch is slated for 6:05 p.m. PDT.
