OCALA, Fla. – Junior
Mattia Giurgevich was a main highlight for the Pacific swimming program as the Tigers completed day one of the National Invitational Championship in Ocala, Florida.
Giurgevich, a native of Limbiate, Italy, clocked a time of 24.39 in the men's 50 breast, giving the Tigers 20 points as part of the team's top nine placement (183.5 points) through the first day of events.
"There were excellent performances today from the team," head coach
Katelyne Herrington said. "We moved up quite a bit from our seed times overall helping to put us in scoring positions. Our ladies had a huge swim in the 200 free relay, moving up from 23rd to seventh place overall, which is very exciting for them! Individually,
Mattia Giurgevich was our standout winning the 50 breast. He looked incredible. I am so proud of him. He has been working so hard all season, working on all details of his race. He was locked in today and ready to execute."

Paige Sondgeroth turned on the jets with a powerful performance to secure 34 points with a time of 1:32.39.

Javier Lopez Guillen set a personal best in the men's 50 fly with a time of 21.30, good for 15.50 points to Pacific's total.
