SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Pacific women's track and field program put together several strong performances Saturday at the Sunshine Open, hosted by Westmont College at Westmont Track.
The Tigers competed in five events with junior
Serena Yee highlighting the day by tying a school record in the high jump. The native of Lodi, California placed third in the event with a distance 1.50 m, matching Lena Perry's performance in 2017.
Yee also competed in the triple jump, notching a fourth-place position with a distance of 10.14m.
Sophomore
Valeria Espinoza and sophomore
Emma Kaufman made their season debuts in the women's 3k, each finishing among the top 10. Espinoza and Kaufman set a personal record with a time of 11:00.96 for eighth in the event while Kaufman earned a time of 11:13.71 in tenth place. For Espinoza, her 3k run put her ninth all-time in school history.
In the 1 mile event, three Tigers competed in sophomore
Alexa Myers, junior
Briteny Goriye and sophomore
Beatriz Diaz. Diaz turned in a personal record with a time of 6:25.76.
The Tigers look ahead to the Cal All Comers meet, taking place on Feb. 22 in Berkeley, California at Edwards Stadium.
