Baseball Welcomes South Dakota State for Four-Game Series

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program prepares for a four-game home series against South Dakota State, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. at Klein Family Field. Saturday's action will feature a day-night doubleheader (3 p.m./6 p.m.) followed by Sunday's 1 p.m. series finale.

The Tigers (2-2) are coming off their first midweek matchup of the season, showing some spirited fight in an 11-7 loss to UC Davis in the road opener. The Jackrabbits (0-0) have yet to play a game in 2025.

Through a series victory over UC San Diego and a road opener, Pacific is paced offensively by redshirt senior JT Waldon with a .455 batting average (5-for-11). Graduate student Kordell Brown represents a force at the top of the batting order, knocking in a team-high six runs while slashing .235 at the plate. Brown's six RBIs rank among the top five of the West Coast Conference through four games.

Sophomore Robert Orr has been sharp in all four games, hitting .333 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs. Orr became the first player since Pacific player since rejoined the WCC (2013) to hit a home run and record a save in the same game. The native of Vancouver, British Columbia accomplished this feat in the series-clinching 6-3 win over the Tritons last Sunday.

On the mound, redshirt junior Logan Drummond sports a comfortable 1.93 ERA following his Tigers debut last Friday. Drummond pitched 4.2 innings, allowing one earned run with a pair of strikeouts. Senior Adan Perez and senior Ethan Shaver have picked up wins in relief efforts across the opening weekend, combining for 7.1 scoreless innings with six strikeouts.

The Jackrabbits had their first four-game series canceled against Murray State due to weather. South Dakota State was picked to finish in the Summit League baseball poll. Shortstop Carter Sintek and reliever Dylan Driessen were tabbed as Summit League Players to Watch.

Pacific and South Dakota State will meet for the second all-time series in Stockton. The Tigers own a 3-1 all-time record over the Jackrabbits. The first meeting came in 2016 with a 5-2 Pacific victory. The Tigers took two of three at home from the Jackrabbits during the 2020 season.

All four games will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Every Sunday at home, kids can run the bases following the conclusion of the game.
