STOCKTON, Calif. – Head coach
Reed Peters will usher in a new era of Pacific baseball, beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, with a season-opening three-game home series against UC San Diego at Klein Family Field.
With a new coaching staff and retooled roster, the Tigers are eager to get the 2025 season underway.
"We are very excited for our upcoming home series with UC San Diego," Peters said. "It should be a good test right out of the chute. I know our players are anxious to play somebody in a different uniform. We have a lot of questions still to figure out, but we are looking to use these non-conference games to give guys a chance to prove themselves."
The Tigers, who were picked to finish in ninth place in the West Coast Conference preseason poll, have won eight straight home openers going back to the 2017 season. Pacific defeated UNLV by a 2-1 score in last year's home opener.
The Tritons are projected to finish fifth in the Big West Coaches' Preseason Poll. Emiliano Gonzalez was named to the conference preseason team. In 2024, Gonzalez hit .317 with six home runs and a team-high 46 RBIs.
The Tigers and Tritons go head to head for the second season in a row. Last year, the two programs met for the first time in their respective program histories with UC San Diego earning the sweep in La Jolla. The Tritons make their first-ever trip to Stockton this weekend.
Pacific has a couple key players from 2024's squad in junior
Kaden Petersen and junior
Jake Tandy. While Petersen paced the Tigers with a .266 batting average, Tandy delivered in clutch moments with a team-best 39 RBIs.
On the pitching side with assistant coach
Grant Kukuk guiding the staff, the Tigers return senior
Ethan Shaver and senior
Jakob Guardado who provided a bulk of innings last season. Pacific also has some new arms to deal on the mound this season with redshirt junior
Logan Drummond and redshirt sophomore
Carson Revay looking to make an impact out of the gate this year.
All three games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Friday's game scheduled for 6 p.m., Saturday's game for 6 p.m. and Sunday's game for 1 p.m.
