Pacific Starts Strong on Final Day of PAC Invite

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's and women's swim and dive program capped the final day of the PAC Invite on Saturday morning at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.

In front of a rowdy crowd, The Tigers took care of business in the mile events to lead off the day, ultimately taking second place on the women's side and third place on the men's side after both days of the PAC Invite were completed.

UC Santa Barbara took home first place on both sides with 1,436 points for the women and 918.5 for the men. Pacific collected 894 on the women's side while the men earned 757.5.

"It was a great turnout," Pacific head coach Katelyne Herrington said. "I think that it was pretty impressive to see all of the spectators that came out and just celebrate the community together. Having Stanford, UC Santa Barbara and Seattle come down and have some good competition was great and having the local clubs and high schools watch was just spectacular."

It was a strong open to day two of the PAC Invite as sophomore Christina Agiomamitou and freshman Garrett Taylor each took first place in the 1650 freestyle. Agiomamitou clocked in a time of 17:16.47 while Taylor notched a time of 16:11.74.

Elsewhere, in the women's 100 yard free, sophomore Josephine Fields collected her second first place nod of the PAC Invite, swimming a 51.90 in that event.

The Gauchos, Tigers and Redhawks all battled on the final day of competition with UCSB ultimately taking the most points from the third session of swimming.

Pacific will now rest and recover as the team prepares for UC Santa Barbara and San Jose State on Oct. 25 at noon at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
