Nate Rasmussen Athlete of the Week

Rasmussen Receives MPSF Men’s Athlete of the Week Honors

STOCKTON, Calif. – For the second time this season, sophomore Nate Rasmussen of the Pacific men's swim and dive program was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.

Rasmussen turned in another impressive showing in his efforts against UC Santa Cruz last Saturday at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center, posting three individual first-place finishes.

"Nate continues to prove why he's one of our top competitors in the conference," Pacific head coach Katelyne Herrington said. "We had a limited roster this past weekend and needed people to step up, and Nate was someone who rose to that challenge for his team. Not only did he win all of his individual events, but he also swam two lifetime bests and recorded the sixth-fastest time in program history in the 200 free. This honor is very well deserved and a reflection of his hard work, consistency and competitive spirit."

A native of Stockton, California, Rasmussen collected 27 points in the meet with the Banana Slugs, notching a first-place nod in the 50 free (20.44), 100 free (44.90) and 200 free (1:36.88). In the process, he shaved off at least one second of his season best in each event. Rasmussen also helped Pacific to a runner-up finish in the 400 freestyle relay, swimming in the first leg of the competition with a time of 44.67 in that race.

Rasmussen is now up to six individual first place finishes this season after securing his first three over Fresno Pacific in the home opener where he also claimed the MPSF weekly honor.

Led by Rasmussen's hot start to the 2025-26 campaign, the Tigers are squared away for a road meet at Cal State Bakersfield at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the John S. Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center.
