10/21/2025 10:02:00 AM

STOCKTON, Calif. – Coming off a big unbeaten road weekend, the No. 14 Pacific men's water polo program saw its freshman duo honored with weekly awards as Kiss Gergely was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week and Apostolos Georgaras won Newcomer of the Week.

It comes after Pacific notched wins at No. 8 Pepperdine and No. 10 LMU over the weekend. The Tigers are one win away from repeating as West Coast Conference Regular Season champions and will play for the title against Cal Baptist on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.

Gergely, who won WCC Newcomer of the Week last week, recorded 27 saves over the two games and submitted a .540 save percentage. He started it off with a career-high 14 saves against the Waves and followed it up with 13 against the Lions.

Georgaras tallied seven goals, two assists and six steals over the two games. He began with four goals and four steals against Pepperdine and capped it with three goals, two assists and two steals against LMU. Georgaras leads Pacific with 55 goals on the season.

As a team, the Tigers have won five WCC weekly awards this year, all from freshmen. Georgaras and Gergely have each been honored twice and Borisz Kasa-Gal once.

Pacific will play four games this weekend at the Santa Clara Invitational beginning with a 12 p.m. Friday contest against No. 19 Harvard.
