Jung Paces Pacific After Opening Round of Saint Mary’s Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Pacific men's golf program completed the opening round of the Saint Mary's Invitational, standing in seventh place on Monday afternoon at Bayonet Golf Course.

The Tigers (E/288) shot an even par after the first 18 holes of the 16-team field. Arkansas State is the front runner at nine-under par, followed by a log jam of teams vying for the top three, including Pacific who is four strokes behind the second-place Saint Mary's Gaels.

Pacific performed decently across the board, led by the efforts of senior Timothy Jung and his top nine placement through the first day. Jung recorded two eagles to boost his score to a team-best two-under par.

Senior Ian Fritz and redshirt junior Deitrek Gill stood in the top 30 following the first day as Fritz netted a one-under par and Gill carded a one-over par.

Greener pastures lie ahead for senior Travis Robbie and sophomore Felix Bouchard, who was the individual champion at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational a week and a half ago. Bouchard is in a tie for 40th place individually while Robbie is among the top 60.

Sophomore Josh Stuart competed as the lone individual on Monday, registering a six-over par in his 18-hole performance.

Day two of the tournament begins at 8:20 a.m. from the first and tenth holes. Live scoring can be found here.
