STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's and women's swim and dive program is looking forward to hosting the PAC Invite, a two-day event beginning Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
For the first time since 2019, the Tigers are hosting their Stockton-based invitational, welcoming Seattle, Stanford and UC Santa Barbara for two days and three sessions worth of swimming and diving. Friday's sessions will begin at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and will wrap up at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
"We are excited to bring the PAC Invite back to our schedule and host some strong competition here at Pacific," Pacific head coach
Katelyne Herrington said. "It's always great when teams want to race in our pool because they know it's fast. We're expecting a great turnout of fans and are looking forward to giving them some exciting races to watch this weekend."
Pacific is coming off a strong home-opening performance over Fresno Pacific as both teams took the majority of the races last Saturday to claim a dominant victory over the Sunbirds. The women look to build upon their pair of wins after having defeated Cal State East Bay in their season opener last week.
Leading the charge on the men's side in the win over FPU was sophomore
Nate Rasmussen. Rasmussen, a Stockton, California native, was named a Mountain Pacific Sports Pacific Athlete of the Week after notching a trio of first-place finishes. He earned a first-place nod in the 50 free (21.26), 100 free (46.82) and 200 free (1:39.17).
Freshman Raphael Vanhecke and sophomore
Graham Inman also picked up a pair of first place finishes over the Sunbirds. For Vanhecke, the first-year swimmer secured the top spot in the 100 back (50.89) while helping the Tigers earn first place in the 200 medley relay.
On the women's side, senior
Annelise Thomas was a force to be reckoned with, collecting three first place finishes in the 50 back (30.76), 100 back (56.76) and 200 breast (2:27.01). Thomas now won five events this year, including a couple at CSUEB.
Three more Tigers racked up a pair of first-place nods as well with senior
Lilliana Noriega, redshirt junior
Laureen Roussel and sophomore
Christina Agiomamitou making their mark toward the Pacific scores over FPU.
The last time hosting the PAC Invite, the Tigers earned first place over UC Santa Cruz and Fresno Pacific, with a total of 1,169 points. This year, the Cardinal, the Gauchos and the Redhawks look to make things interesting as all three programs make their season debuts this upcoming weekend in Stockton.
All three sessions will be streamed live on Overnght, which can be found
