No. 14 Pacific Hits the Road for Matches at No. 8 Pepperdine & No. 10 LMU

MALIBU, Calif. – A weekend near Los Angeles will feature the No. 14 Pacific men's water polo program playing at No. 8 Pepperdine at 1 p.m. Friday at the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool, and No. 10 LMU at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Burns Center.

The Tigers (8-5, 2-1 WCC) will look to carry momentum from their big 13-12 Homecoming win over No. 7 San Jose State last weekend. Senior Daniel Viscia registered a season-high four goals to help Pacific knock off a SJSU squad that was predicted to win the league in the WCC Preseason Poll.

Freshman goalkeeper Kiss Gergely is the reigning WCC Newcomer of the Week winner. He matches his career-high with 11 saves and posted a .478 save percentage in the victory over SJSU. Gergely became the third different freshman from Pacific to win WCC Newcomer of the Week this season.

The other two - Apostolos Georgaras and Borisz Kasa-Gal – are Pacific's leading goal scorers this year. Georgaras is up to 48 goals, including at least one in every game, while Kasa-Gal has netted 39 goals.

Pepperdine (10-7, 0-1 WCC) fell 15-10 to No. 13 Cal Baptist on the road in its conference opener. The Waves are 3-1 at home this year with wins over UC Santa Barbara, Princeton and Whittier.

Pacific has won six of the last seven meetings against Pepperdine including a 14-8 home victory last year that clinched the WCC Regular Season Championship.

LMU (6-8, 0-1 WCC) opened conference play with a 16-13 road defeat to SJSU. The Lions are coming off back-to-back wins over UC Santa Barbara and UC Davis, and will host Air Force on Friday.

The Tigers are 13-6 all-time against the Lions and beat them twice last year, once at home and once in a non-conference match in Los Angeles.

Pacific's final home game will be played Sunday, Nov. 2 when the team hosts Cal Baptist at 1 p.m. at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
