Box Score SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The women's tennis program fought hard but came up on the wrong side of some close matches in a 7-0 defeat to Sacramento State on Sunday afternoon at the Sacramento State Tennis Complex.
Doubles losses on courts one and three put Pacific (0-2) in an early hole it was unfortunately unable to climb out of. Sophomores
Rayna Sugai and
Nahreen Cheam were tied 3-3 when play was stopped.
Sugai, alongside fellow sophomores
Indiya McLeod and
Milena Maiorova, all pushed their opponents in the singles half of the match – forcing 6-4, 7-5, or 7-6 set results.
The team will play in an exhibition match against Dominican on Friday, but will not play an official match again until Pacific welcomes UC Davis to the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 12 p.m. for the program's home opener.
