STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific women's basketball lead for all but 94 seconds in a 62-51 win over the LMU on Thursday night from the Alex G. Spanos Center.
The Tigers (8-10, 4-4 WCC) defense held LMU (6-8, 0-6 WCC) to just 29% from the floor (18-for-62), marking a season best for opponent field goal percentage and matches the fewest opponent field goals allowed this season. Tonight's matchup also marks consecutive seasons in which Pacific has held LMU below 30% shooting inside the Spanos Center and has held the Lions below 55 points in their last three trips to Stockton.
All of the Lion misses gave the Tigers a plethora of opportunities on the defensive glass, something sophomore
Jamie Kent took full advantage of. Making her first collegiate start, Kent grabbed nine boards to lead the team – more than doubling her previous career-high. The forward also set a new career-high eight points, two assists and a steal in 26 minutes of action.
The Pacific bench provided the team an offensive spark, outscoring LMU's bench 33-0 thanks in large part to the play of junior
Lauren Glazier and freshman
Daria Nestorov. The former scored a team-high 15 on 6-for-13 shooting to accompany five rebounds and a block. The latter splashed home three three-pointers on the way to a ten-point night with four assists.
Senior
Anaya James found Nestorov on two of those threes to give the senior guard two of her game-high nine assists. James also added two more steals to her season ledger for a total of 42 and is on pace to finish with 70 this season.
Graduate
Liz Smith bounced back with 15-points on the night with two three-pointers.
Pacific remains home for its next contest, hosting the San Francisco Dons on Saturday. Tipoff from the Alex G. Spanos Center is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
