Pacific Swim Opens Season at Home Saturday at Noon

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific swimming team suits up for the 2024-25 season opener, hosting Fresno Pacific and Cal State East Bay on Saturday at noon at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.

The Tigers look to build off a promising campaign last year, beginning with their first of six home swimming events this season.

"The team has been training well and looking really strong in practice," sixth-year head coach Katelyne Herrington said. "We are in such a better spot than we were last year. As a team, we are coming into the season from one of our best summers of training and competing, allowing us to get into our training more aggressively. We should see some fast swims this weekend and excited to see the results of where we are at."

At the forefront of the men's team is senior Mitchell Hopper. The native of Happy Valley, Oregon and team captain on the men's side looks to continue where he left off his impressive junior year. Hopper set a Pacific record for the 100-meter individual medley last year, breaking the previous mark by nearly a second with a time of 48.60 seconds.

Senior Paige Sondgeroth represents one of the leaders on the women's team. Sondgeroth clocked a 29.63 in the 50 breast at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational last year, finishing ninth overall.

The Fresno Pacific men's team makes the trip to Stockton, California after competing the last three times in Fresno, California. The Tigers own a 3-0 record over the Firebirds.

Cal State East Bay joins Fresno Pacific in the women's competition. The Pacific women's swimming team is 3-0 all-time against Fresno Pacific. The Tigers hold a 3-1 all-time against the Pioneers, including a perfect 3-0 mark at home.

The meet will be streamed on Overnght with the first race set for noon.
