Pacific Stands in Seventh Place after Day One of Palouse Collegiate

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Pacific men's golf team opened its 2024-25 season by completing the first two rounds of the Palouse Collegiate on Tuesday at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
 
The Tigers (-15/553) find themselves in seventh place in the 15-team field following the opening day, standing in a crowded leaderboard within two strokes of third place. Utah sits at the top of the team leaderboard with a 35-under-par score.
 
"The guys did a great job today," head coach John Cook said. "They stuck to our game plan we had. We're looking for a few more putts to fall tomorrow."
 
Junior Deitrek Gill paces Pacific with a six-under-par through the opening two rounds, standing in tenth place on the individual leaderboard. 
 
Sophomore Carlos Astiazaran and junior Timothy Jung finished in the top 30 with four-under-par each. Junior Travis Robbie capped the day with a one-under-par which puts him in the top half of the field. Sophomore Justin Bai rounds out the team scoring with a seven-over-par.
 
Junior Ian Fritz recorded a one-over-par, competing as an individual in the tournament.
 
The Tigers continue with the final round of the Palouse Collegiate tomorrow with tee times beginning at 7:45 a.m. PT.
