Tigers Host Bulldogs at the Park for Midweek Contest

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific baseball team welcomes Fresno State to Klein Family Field for an early week contest, wrapping up a four-game slate at home before traveling back to conference play with a series at Saint Mary's. The Tigers take on the Bulldogs on Tuesday, May 7 at 5 p.m. for their Mental Health Awareness night.
 
Sophomore Jake Tandy leads the Tigers with a .271 batting average and 37 RBI. The first baseman has 18 runs and 35 hits on the season, while accounting for 168 putouts. 
 
Freshman Gabe Camacho comes off a three-homer weekend, knocking out two in game one against Gonzaga for a season high. He ranks second on the team in hits (38), RBI (26) and batting average (.264), while leading all Tigers with nine home runs on the year, a mark (9 HR) that ties-seventh in the conference. His 177 putouts lead all Tigers.
 
Sophomore Jack Metcho paces the team with 35 runs and 40 hits through 46 games, earning the start in all contests. The shortstop has eleven multi-hit games on the year and leads the Tigers with 114 assists, which ranks third in the WCC. Metcho is tied for first in the WCC in triples with four.
 
Leading from the mound is junior Jakob Guardado, who holds a 5.57 ERA and .333 OBA. He's struck out 25 batters in 12 appearances and 51.2 innings pitched. Fellow junior, Ethan Shaver, has two wins on the season, pitching through 52.2 innings and striking out 36 batters. His 15 batters struck out looking ranks tenth in the WCC.
 
It's the 18th meeting between the Tigers and the Bulldogs dating back to the 2013 season. Fresno State tied the series 9-9 after taking the previous three games, including the most recent contest earlier in March.
 
The last four games have all been decided by a run and Pacific is 1-3 in those contests. The Tigers last defeated Fresno State in Fresno in the 2022 season and last won in Stockton in 2021.
 
Since their last meeting, the Bulldogs have moved to a 27-20 overall record. They are 13-11 on the road and currently on a five-game losing skid after dropping the series to San Diego State.
 
Overall, the Bulldogs are hitting .289, while holding a 5.35 ERA as a unit. The Tigers hold a collective .217 batting average and 8.77 ERA.
