Tigers Face Mountaineers to Open NIT Championship

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific women's tennis team makes its first postseason tournament debut since 2000 as the Tigers take on West Virginia in the UTR Sports NIT Championship quarterfinal on Monday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. PST in Bradenton, Fla.

After clinching a spot in the WCC tournament for the first time since returning to the league in 2013, the Tigers captured their 14th win of the season after sweeping Portland in the first round. It's the most wins by the Tigers in almost two decades. The win advanced the Tigers to the semifinal where they fell to runner-up San Diego 4-2.

Senior Klara Kosan leads the Tigers with 12 singles wins on the season, a feat that garnered her a fourth All-WCC Singles Second Team honor. She also made the All-WCC Doubles Second Team with partner junior Tomi Main. They notched 12 wins together from court one.

Main and Kosan are two of four Tigers with double digit singles wins on the season. The two others, freshman Indiya McLeod and senior Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle, combine for 24 singles wins. Both made the All-WCC tournament team after going undefeated as Clydesdale-Eberle is currently enjoying a four match winning streak, while McLeod has a three match winning streak.

It's the first meeting between the Tigers and the Mountaineers for the all-time series. West Virginia earned the NIT's No. 2 seed after posting a 14-12 record this season. WVU exited the Big 12 Championship after a loss to nationally ranked No. 36 Baylor 4-2, one of three losses in a row to nationally ranked opponents.
