STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific softball team's offense faltered in game three on Saturday evening as the visiting Santa Clara Broncos defeated the Tigers 12-0. The Tigers conclude the series on Sunday, May 5 at noon as they host their Senior Day celebration.
Senior
Rian Dirmeyer led the Tigers with two hits for her 17th overall multi-hit game and 14th game with two hits this season. The shortstop was one of five Tigers with a hit on the evening. Sophomores
Olivia Silvestre and
Jordan Hayes each grabbed one in two at bats, while junior
Kyla Eck recorded her 12th hit of the season in two appearances at the plate. Junior
Nina Davis notched her 14th hit of the season to round of the group.
Junior
Delaney Scully paced both teams with six putouts on the evening, bringing her total to 330 on the year.
Four pitchers saw action in the attempt to thwart the surging Broncos. Senior
Amiyah Aponte got the start and faced 16 batters. She tossed 37 strikes and delivered a strikeout through 2.2 innings pitched.
Both teams went without a run through the opening innings, but the Broncos broke through in the top of the third, scoring six runs. Santa Clara held the Tigers scoreless while notching an additional six runs between the fourth and fifth innings, cementing the game 12-0 after five.
The Tigers return for their final game of the season on Sunday at noon.
