Camacho Lands on WCC All-Freshman Team

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – With the 2024 regular season wrapping up last weekend, the West Coast Conference officially announced its annual individual and team baseball awards on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Gabe Camacho was selected to the WCC All-Freshman team for his remarkable first-year campaign with the Tigers, marking the first Tiger to earn the honor since Thomas Gavello achieved the feat in 2021.

The Encinitas, Calif., native became one of the top power hitters for the Tigers and in the WCC this season as he led the Tigers in home runs (10), extra-base hits (19), total bases (83), slugging percentage (.477) and OPS (.851).

In conference play, Camacho led the Tigers with five home runs, which ranked tied for eighth in the WCC.

Camacho's ten home runs was first Tiger to reach the double-digit plateau since Gavello's 11 home runs during the 2022 campaign and the first Pacific freshman with double-digit home runs since James Free II during the 2017 season.

Camacho was named the WCC Freshman of the Week on March 25 after going 4-for-11 with a pair of home runs, five runs scored and two RBIs during the previous week. Camacho hit a walk-off home run with two outs in the ninth inning to seal a 3-2 victory over Sacramento State for his first career walk-off hit.
