Jake Tandy Celebration

Tandy Named to WCC All-Academic First Team

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Sophomore Jake Tandy was named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic First Team, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.

"Jake is a great competitor," Pacific head coach Chris Rodriguez said. "He goes about his business the right way. To be on the All-Academic First Team and be an engineering student, it is pretty special. He's been our guy in the middle of the lineup. He thrives when guys get on base."

This is the first All-Academic First Team recognition for Tandy and the first Tiger to earn the honor since Ben Nemivant during the 2023 season.

A key power threat in the middle of the lineup, Tandy carried the Tigers in clutch situations, knocking in a team-high 39 RBIs. The native of West Sacramento, Calif., had a team-best .329 batting average in conference games. His 23 RBIs in league play ranked tied for seventh on the WCC leaderboard.

Tandy had the fourth-most hits (40) and fifth-most runs (21) on Pacific and started in 43 games at first base or at designated hitter primarily. Tandy also hit four home runs on the season, including a grand slam against San Francisco on April 26, marking the first grand slam by a Tiger since the 2021 season.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team and in at least their second year at their school.
