Pacific Travels to Nevada for Final Non-Conference Test

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball team hits the road for its final non-conference midweek matchup of the season against Nevada, beginning at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Don Weir Field.

The Tigers (10-41, 4-17 WCC) are coming off a setback against Saint Mary's last weekend, but were victorious in their most recent midweek contest against Fresno State with a 6-4 win at Klein Family Field last Tuesday.

Picked to finish in seventh place in the Mountain West preseason coaches poll, Nevada (22-25, 14-13 MW) has earned series wins over UC Riverside, San Francisco, San Diego State, New Mexico and UNLV and Air Force this season.

As a starter in every game this season, Michael Ball enters the matchup leading the Wolf Pack with a team-best .322 with 51 RBIs and 20 runs scored – all of which are tops among his team. Taylor Holder has supplied some power at the plate for Nevada with a team-leading 13 home runs.

The Wolf Pack have been crafty on the base paths, stealing 32 bases in 48 attempts.

On the mound, Jason Doktorczyk leads the pitching staff in qualified ERA with a 4.02 mark in 12 starts and a team-high 78.1 innings this season.

For the Tigers, sophomore Kaden Petersen and sophomore Jake Tandy carry the torch offensively, both hitting a team-high .271. Petersen had a productive week at the plate last week, going 8-for-16 with a home run and four runs scored. Tandy's 39 RBIs on the season ranks him tied for ninth in the West Coast Conference leaderboard.

Freshman Gabe Camacho reached the double-digit plateau in home runs, hitting his tenth homer of the season at Saint Mary's in the series finale. Ten home runs are the most home runs by a freshman since James Free II's 14-home run campaign during his first season in 2017. Camacho is tied for eighth in the WCC in home runs.

Junior Jakob Guardado leads the team in qualified ERA (5.84) through 11 starts and 57.0 innings of work.
