STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball team hits the road for a three-game series at San Francisco, beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday at Ulrich Field.
In the team's most recent game, the Tigers (7-33, 2-10 WCC) faced a setback against the California Golden Bears, falling 12-3 at home on Tuesday.
This weekend, the Tigers have a key West Coast Conference matchup, facing the Dons (17-24, 1-11 WCC) on the road.
The Tigers and Dons crossed paths last season in Stockton with the visitors taking the series. Pacific won the series opener by a score of 9-7. The Tigers seek their first road victory over the Dons since 2014.
San Francisco was picked to finish eighth in the conference preseason coaches poll. The Dons currently sit last in the West Coast Conference with a 1-11 conference record, but own a 11-13 home record with early season home series victories over Farleigh Dickinson and Saint Peter's.
San Francisco is led offensively by TJ Rogers, who's hitting a team-high .316. Michael Campagna holds the team lead in home runs (7).
On the mound, Lance Santerre and Joe Soberon hold sub-four ERAs for the Dons with Santerre leading his team with 46 strikeouts in 47.2 innings of work.
The Tigers are led at the plate by sophomore
Jack Metcho, who is hitting a team-best .255 with four triples, 30 runs scored and eight stolen bases on ten attempts – all of which leads Pacific.
Sophomore
Tony Otis has swung a hot bat lately, scoring at least one run in the last seven consecutive games. Going 8-for-22 in that span, Otis has raised his batting average to .241 with a pair of home runs. Freshman
Gabe Camacho leads the Tigers with six home runs.
Pacific's pitching leader is junior
Jakob Guardado, who owns a team-low 6.37 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 41.0 innings of work. Guardado had his longest outing of the year in his last start against LMU, going 6.0 innings and earning a quality start.
The series will kick off Friday with a 2 p.m. first pitch. Saturday is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch and the series will close with a 12 p.m. contest on Sunday. All games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
