STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific women's tennis team makes its first ever appearance in the WCC Tournament since returning to the league in 2013. The Tigers revisit Portland at the Aztec Tennis Center in San Diego for the first round, with the match set for Thursday, April 25 at 1 p.m.
Fifth year senior and All-WCC Second Team captain
Klara Kosan leads the Tigers with an 11-6 singles record this season. Kosan collected all 11 wins from court one and secured two of the conference's weekly honors this season. Her and doubles partner
Tomi Main went 11-8 in their doubles matches this season. The feat placed them both on the All-WCC Doubles Second Team.
Main was also a pivotal piece in singles for Pacific this season, boasting a 10-4 record from court two. The junior holds the longest active singles match winning streak on the team at five after claiming her match in Portland.
Two more Tigers hold double digit singles victories this season. Fellow fifth year senior
Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle went 10-3 overall while claiming all ten victories from court six. She went 8-1 in her last ten appearances while claiming victory in her final two regular season matches.
Freshman
Indiya McLeod went 11-4 in her debut season with the Tigers, playing primarily from court five. She combined for a 7-1 record between courts four and six and also ended the season with a two match winning streak.
The Tigers ended their regular season with a 4-2 victory over the Pilots. The win moved the team to 4-2 in conference matches and 13-6 on the season, the most wins by a Tiger team in over two decades. Pacific locked up the three seed for the feat.
Portland ended the year on a three match skid, hosting the league's top ranked teams in Pepperdine and San Diego before dropping their final home match to the Tigers. The Pilots are 0-2 on the season in neutral site matches, while the Tigers went 2-0. Pacific ended its season on a three match winning streak after defeating Portland. The win tied the series 5-5 since the Tigers returned to the league in 2013. The Tigers lead the all-time series against Portland dating back to 2006 8-5.
The winner of tomorrow's match meets the tournament's two seed San Diego in the second round. The winner of that contest makes the tournament final on Saturday set for 2 p.m. Conference champion Pepperdine sits on the opposite side of the bracket as the tournament's one seed.
