Tigers Open Home Tournament with Loss to CSU Bakersfield

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific beach volleyball team hosted CSU Bakersfield for its first of three matches over the next two days. In the home tournament season finale opener, the Tigers fell to the Roadrunners 5-0.

Four pairs pushed the Roadrunners in the first sets to start off the afternoon. Sophomore Josephine Kinlan and partner junior Ashley Davies kept pace with Bakersfield through the first set before falling 21-18, 21-13. Senior Juliana Alexander and freshman Mia Rossman fared similar at threes. The duo went neck and neck before falling in 21-16, 21-10.

Senior Miranda Baptista and graduate student Jadyn Tubbs remained in a back and forth first set at fours, but fell 21-18, 21-6. The ones pair, senior Camdyn Albrecht and sophomore Kelea Saxton Vaka, pushed the Roadrunners in the opening set but Bakersfield got the final two to claim the set 21-19. Bakersfield opened with momentum in the second as Vaka and Albrecht chipped at the lead, but the duo came up just short, falling in the second set 21-15.

The Tigers return tomorrow for matches against Saint Mary's and Santa Clara. Prior to the 4 p.m. match against the Broncos, the Tigers will recognize their four seniors for Senior Day.
