Softball Highlights San Diego Series with Sunday Pink Game

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific softball team opens a four game series against San Diego this weekend Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21. For the final game on Sunday afternoon, the team will honor Pacific Athletics Hall of Famer and pitching coach ('83-'87) Bill Simoni alongside his daughter Dr. Suzi Simoni-Surritt for its Pink Game. 
 
Dr. Simoni-Surritt is a 10 year breast cancer survivor and will be throwing out the first pitch with her father on Sunday prior to the game.
 
Senior Rian Dirmeyer holds the longest active hitting streak on the team, moving to 11 games after three multi-hit games in the Saint Mary's series. She now has 10 games with two hits. The shortstop has a .352 batting average on the season, while leading the team with 43 hits. She's scored 16 runs on the year and paces the team with 17 RBI.
 
Sophomore Olivia Silvestre leads the team with a .365 batting average. The left fielder has scored a team leading 25 runs, while sitting just behind Dirmeyer with 42 hits on the season. Both rank in the top-ten this season in the WCC in both hits and batting average.
 
Junior Delaney Scully remains first in the league through the opening conference games, sitting first with 270 putouts.The first baseman has a .233 batting average, recording 28 hits and scoring 15 runs this season.
 
Leading from the circle is senior Avery Croxall with a 1.32 ERA. In 20 appearances, the senior has boasted a 5-2 record and two saves. She's struck out a team leading 58 batters through 63.2 innings pitched, while holding a .187 OBA.
 
As a collective, the Tigers are batting .250 and hold a 4.36 ERA. For the visiting Toreros, they are batting .266, while holding a collective 4.99 ERA.
 
San Diego currently leads the series 19-7 since Pacific returned to the WCC in 2013. The Tigers are in pursuit of their first win over the Toreroes since 2021 and first win at home since 2018. The Toreros claimed the series sweep a year prior, though the final game was decided by one run. 
 
In 2021, the Tigers grabbed their own one run decision, taking a game away from the Toreros on their home field 2-1. The last time the Tigers won in Stockton, they grabbed the three game series sweep over the Toreros. 
 
The Tigers start the series on Friday, April 19 at 4 p.m. at Bill Simoni Field. On Saturday, they hold a doubleheader with game one set for noon. Game two follows directly after. The Pink Game featuring the honor of Bill Simoni and Dr. Suzi Simoni-Surritt is set for noon on Sunday, April 21.
