Softball Returns to host CSU Bakersfield

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific softball team hosts CSU Bakersfield through the weekend at Bill Simoni Field, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 9 at noon. The Tigers (5-15) conclude the three-game series with the Roadrunners on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m.
 
Sophomore Olivia Silvestre leads the Tigers with a .404 batting average, 11 runs and 23 hits in 57 at bats. She's drawn a team leading 10 walks while capturing three stolen bases in 20 games played. Aiding her is senior Rian Dirmeyer, who leads the team with five home runs, 11 RBI, 17 hits and 11 runs scored through 20 games. 
 
Leading from the circle is senior Avery Croxall, who paces the team and the WCC with a 1.12 ERA. She has struck out a team leading 34 batters, which ranks her second in the league for far this season, while her .207 OBA also ranks second in the WCC.
 
Junior Delaney Scully has collected 115 putouts through 20 games, which ranks second in the conference this season. Junior Kyla Eck's 38 assists rank her third in the league.
 
Pacific returns after six games away, including a five-game series in Grand Canyon for the Purple Classic. The Tigers went 3-2 over the tournament weekend with wins over New Mexico, Toledo and Montana. Upon their arrival back in California, the Tigers visited No. 8 Stanford for a midweek contest. Despite committing no errors and getting opportunities on base, the Tigers fell 8-0.
 
The Tigers are 6-4 in the last ten contests against the Roadrunners. As of recently, the two teams have traded win-losses with one another dating back to 2019. The Roadrunners claimed the most recent contest with a 5-2 decision in 2023 in Bakersfield. The two programs haven't met in Stockton since 2020, where the Tigers claimed the 6-1 win that year. At home, the Tigers are 8-1 dating back to 2008.
 
After the weekend, the Tigers prepare for an early week contest at Bill Simoni Field, hosting North Dakota State for a game on Tuesday, March 12 at 2 p.m.
