Pacific Hosts Minnesota, Travels to Fresno State

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball team welcomes in Minnesota to Klein Family Field at 5 pm on Monday before heading to Fresno State for a 6:05 pm first pitch start time on Tuesday at Bob Bennett Stadium.

The Tigers (2-8, 0-0 WCC) are coming off a setback on Sunday, falling to Minnesota, 15-3, and Sacramento State, 11-4, in a doubleheader day at John Smith Field.

Pacific returns home for one game against Minnesota (4-5), who enters the standalone contest on a two-game winning streak. The Gophers defeated Sacramento State, 7-4, on Saturday before scoring a season-high 15 runs on Sunday afternoon against the Tigers.

In the all-time series, Pacific and Minnesota is even at 2-2. The Tigers' pair of wins came during a home series in 2008 when they took two of three from the Gophers.

Junior Jarryd Wood hit his first home run of the season against the Gophers on Sunday, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Following the Monday game against the Gophers, the Tigers head out to Fresno to take on Fresno State (7-3). The Bulldogs have a season-opening home series sweep over Milwaukee, a road series win over Cal State Fullerton and most recently, a home series victory over San Diego State.

Since 2013, the Tigers own a 9-8 record against the Bulldogs. Last year, Pacific dropped one-run contests to Fresno State. In the 5-4 road loss, senior Chase Graves hit a home run, going 2-for-4. Senior Jacob Weiss also slashed an RBI double in the effort offensively late in the contest.

Sophomore Jack Metcho has reached safely in base all ten games for the Tigers. Metcho leads Pacific with a .294 batting average (10-for-34) with a team-high seven runs and six RBIs. Graves hit his first home run of the season against Sacramento State on Sunday and leads the team with a .477 on-base percentage and a team-high 13 walks. His 13 free trips to first rank among the top three in the West Coast Conference.
