Pacific Prepares for Mike Fanelli Track Classic

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific track and field travels to the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Mar. 29 and 30 at Chabot College.
 
The Tigers compete in the event for the third straight season and ninth overall since they started attending the meet in 2013.
 
During the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in 2023, three Tigers placed in the top 30 in their respective events. Sophomore Emily Wernli earned second in her section and 19th overall in the mile with a time of 5:42.21. Senior Anahi Avila Perez and sophomore Briteny Goriye placed 11th and 15th in the two mile at 12:13.77 and 13:49.81. Junior Ella Leroy finished 20th in the high jump (1.43m) and 21st in the long jump (4.70m).
 
Last time, Pacific participated in the Hornet Invitational on Mar. 15 and 16. Paving the way was Leroy who earned 20th in the shot put on an 11.79m throw.
 
Senior Sophie Pazzo (10:45.54) took 35th in the 3000m. Wernli (4:55.68 PR) and junior Sophia Livingston (4:57.15) were the top two runners in their section and 50th and 53rd overall in the 1500m.
 
Freshman Gianna Solano won her section in the 800m (32nd overall) on a personal best time of 2:25.85.
 
The Tigers wrapped up the Hornet Invitational with a 19th place finish in the 4x400m (4:20.65). On the team in the relay were Livingston, Solano, Wernli and junior Dalee Higgins.
 
Up next, Pacific will participate in the Triton Invite hosted by UC San Diego and the Sacramento State Invitational on the weekend of Apr. 5 and 6.
