Tigers Drop Rainy Doubleheader to Lady Lions

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific softball team met Southeastern Louisiana for the first time in program history during a rainy outing at Bill Simoni Field. The Lady Lions got the best of the Tigers, taking both games of the doubleheader 6-3 then 11-2.

"We did some good things at the plate at times, but we didn't play great catch and didn't play well in the rain," head coach Brian Kolze said. "They did put balls in play, they hit the ball hard and pitched through the adversity, we just didn't have a good day at the office. We'll just have to bounce back tomorrow and have more intensity and play more like we did heading into this week."

Sophomore Olivia Silvestre led with four hits across both games, while tying a season high three hits in game one. She scored two runs while recording her ninth double of the season. Senior Rian Dirmeyer added a hit and 2 RBI in game one, nearly reaching her season high of 3 RBI.

Junior Nina Davis was one of four Tigers with a recorded hit in game two. She and junior Nikki Enriquez each went for one RBI. Silvestre and sophomore Jordan Hayes scored the lone runs, with Silvestre wrapping up the scoring for the Tigers in the bottom of the fifth after the rain moved through.

Four pitchers saw action, with senior Scarlett Lloyd getting the starting nod in game one. She pitched through 4.0 innings and faced 20 batters. She struck out two while allowing seven hits and four runs. Freshman Justice Alcaraz pitched through the remaining 3.0 innings and faced 16 batters while allowing four hits and two runs.

Graduate student Vanessa Strong started from the circle in game two for the Tigers pitching for 4.0 innings She faced 19 batters and struck out three, while allowing six hits and seven runs. Senior Amiyah Aponte closed out the last inning facing eight batters while allowing two hits and four runs.

The Tigers conclude the final game of the three game series, weather permitting change, on Thursday, March 28 at 2 p.m.
