Pacific Opens Four-Game Homestand Against Nevada

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball team welcomes in Nevada for the start of a four-game homestand, beginning at 5 pm on Tuesday at Klein Family Field.

Last week, the Tigers (5-18, 1-2 WCC) went 2-2 while opening West Coast Conference play on the road at Pepperdine. Pacific took down Sacramento State in one of its best games of the season to date, winning 3-2 on a walk-off home run by freshman Gabe Camacho.

This week, Pacific hosts Nevada (10-11, 6-3 MW) for a standalone midweek game before its WCC home-opening series against San Diego.

Picked to finish in seventh place in the Mountain West preseason coaches poll, Nevada has earned series wins over UC Riverside, San Francisco, San Diego State, New Mexico and UNLV so far this season.

Under the direction of head coach Jake McKinley, Nevada has been reliant on its productive offense early on in the season with five batters hitting over the .300 mark.

Michael Ball enters the series leading the Wolf Pack with a team-best .400 (34-for-85) with five home runs, 25 RBIs and 20 runs scored – all of which are tops among his team.

The Wolf Pack have been crafty on the base paths, stealing 23 bases in 32 attempts.

On the mound, Theo Millas leads the pitching staff with a 2.77 ERA in five appearances and 26.0 innings this season. Millas has 21 strikeouts while walking just six batters.

For the Tigers, sophomore Kaden Petersen carries the torch offensively, hitting .312 (24-for-77) with nine extra-base hits, 16 runs and 11 RBIs. Petersen has recorded at least one hit in 12 of his last 13 games.

Sophomore Jack Metcho has reached safely in all but one game this season, contributing to his .274 batting average and .376 on-base percentage. Metcho paces the Tigers in runs (17) and stolen bases (4). Metcho's three triples also put him in a tie for first in the WCC rankings.

Sophomore Jake Tandy had a productive week at the plate in the conference-opening series at Pepperdine last week, going 6-for-12 with five RBIs and a run scored. Tandy now leads the Tigers with 15 RBIs while hitting .286, which ranks second on the team. Senior Chase Graves leads the Tigers in walks (19), which ranks first in the WCC.

Junior Ethan Shaver leads the team in qualified ERA (4.23) through six starts and 27.2 innings of work. His ERA ranks among the top ten in the WCC.
