PHOENIX – Completing the final few holes on a high note, the Pacific men's golf team finished the Grand Canyon Invitational in a tie for fourth place out of the 16-team field, securing a seven-under-par 845 (283-282-280) on Wednesday at the Grand Canyon Golf Course.
Cal State Fullerton claimed the top spot in the team standings with a 24-under-par 828. Host Grand Canyon and Washington State round out the podium with a 23-under-par 829 and 10-under-par 842, respectively.
"We had a solid team effort today," Pacific head coach
John Cook said. "We got off to a slow start but finished strong. Carlos and Maverick had great rounds. We are looking forward to playing next week."
This year's tournament marks the Tigers' best placement at the Grand Canyon Invitational since the 2017-2018 campaign when the Tigers finished in second.
In the individual standings, the Lopes placed the top finisher through the three rounds with Tommaso Zorzetto leading the competition with a 15-under-par 198.
Freshman
Carlos Astiazaran roared on day two of the tournament, pacing Pacific with a four-under-par 209 (73-70-66) and finishing in 13th place out of the 93 participating golfers.

Maverick Pavletich secured a tie for 14th place with a three-under-par 210 (71-70-69). Pavletich also hit an eagle on hole 14 to help lower his score on Wednesday.
Senior
Alex Barclay and sophomore
Timothy Jung finished in the top half of the individual standings with two-over-pars each. While Barclay completed the tournament with a 70-70-75 line, Jung recorded a 69-74-72 line. Rounding out the team scoring, senior
Petr Janik scored a five-over-par 218 (73-72-73)
Competing as an individual, sophomore
Deitrek Gill earned a four-over-par 217 (73-73-71).
The Tigers have a quick turnaround as the team prepares next week for the Pauma Valley Invitational on March 18-19.
